Archie Gemmel presented a jazz and rock programme in 1985.

As well as a popular DJ, Archie was also a technical expert and built the studio to transmitter microwave link and a large part of the communications network.

Archie eventually went on to work in the research and development department of a well known Broadcasting Corporation.

Years later I was reading the autobiography of a certain Director General and was delighted to see Archie personally credited as the "brilliant technologist" who created the corporation's first website, now one of the largest and most visited websites in the world.
