Archie Gemmel presented a jazz and rock programme in 1985.

As well as a popular DJ, Archie was also a technical expert and built the studio to transmitter microwave link and a large part of the communications network.

Archie eventually went on to work in the electronics research and development department of a well known Broadcasting Corporation.

Years later I was reading the autobiography of a certain Director General and was delighted to see Archie personally credited as a "brilliant technologist" for creating the corporations first website, now one of the largest in the world!
